Holiness is God's Plan

Lately I’ve been talking quite a bit about revival, which of course would result from a mighty and powerful outpouring of the Spirit of God. Revival is on my heart because the Rapture is on my heart. I believe there will be an astounding “presence of God” Revival right before the catching away of the Church.

We’ve all heard it many times in our life, that the Rapture could be any moment. And that’s true. None of us know the exact hour, but I think we can see from scripture, that many of the things that the Bible says will take place first, have already taken place. So, we really are pretty close. Of course, that could be 20 years from now. But it could also be 20 days from now.

Considering these things, I believe it would be very wise for us to delay no longer in preparing. Do you want to be one of the ones who are a part of this great and powerful end-time plan of God, or do you just want to be on the outside, looking in?

Today I’d like to share something that I believe will take us deeper into this powerful place. Something that will position us to be on the front line of the miraculous, because it will position us into the very presence of God.

I’ll start with this. Jesus’ commission was to invade the impossible. And His assignment is our assignment. Now, we must do whatever it takes to accomplish this assignment.

1 Peter 1:14-16 TEV … Be obedient to God, and do not allow your lives to be shaped by those desires you had when you were still ignorant. Instead, be holy in all that you do, just as God who called you is holy. The scripture says, "Be holy because I am holy."

Looking again at verse 16 … God tells us … "Be holy because I am holy."  This meaning of the word HOLY in the Greek Concordance … (hagios), means … physically pure, morally blameless, saint.

The root of this word holy means … "separated to God."  The verb meaning of holy is … "to separate from things secular and dedicate to God." We are being told to live a lifestyle separated from sin, and consecrated to God. Set apart for His use.  We are to live a lifestyle that reflects the very character of God.

What does the Vine’s Bible Dictionary say concerning HOLINESS?

The state of being holy; purity or integrity of moral character; freedom from sin; sanctity. “Separated” and hence in Scripture … separated from sin and therefore, consecrated to God.

Applied to the Supreme Being [God], holiness denotes perfect purity or integrity of moral character, one of His essential attributes. God, the absolutely Holy One, in His purity, majesty, and glory.

Applied to human beings, holiness is purity of heart or dispositions; sanctified affections; moral goodness, but not perfect.

Basically, when we are living a lifestyle of holiness, we are living a lifestyle separated from sin and consecrated unto God. Set apart for His use.

We are living in a time when we are going to see more of the power of God, more signs, more wonders and more glory, than anyone has ever seen before. God is going to manifest Himself to us, through us, and among us, in astounding ways. But we must prepare.

Exodus 19:9-11 KJV, GWT … The Lord said to Moses, "I am coming to you in a thick cloud so that the people will hear Me speaking with you and will always believe you." So the Lord said to Moses, "Go to the people, and tell them they have two days to get ready. They must set themselves apart as holy. Have them wash their clothes and be ready by the day after tomorrow. On that day [the third day] the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai as all the people watch.”

Right now, God is saying pretty much the same thing to us. He's saying … Get ready! I'm about to manifest Myself in your midst! He's telling us to sanctify ourselves unto Him - to set ourselves apart as holy - to separate from the unclean things of the world, and to get our lives cleaned up.

Why? Because the Lord is coming down to us in these last days. And sin cannot remain in the fullness of His manifest Presence because He is so powerfully Pure and Holy.

As the children of God, the Army of God, we should be serious about sanctifying ourselves. We should "follow holiness, without which no man shall *see the Lord." (Hebrews 12:14)

Without which no man shall*experience the Lord … or know … or be aware of … or discern … or look upon the Lord. (Bible Lexicon)

We are living in a time where the Lord is getting ready to show up and show out like never before. Do we want to be in on this final great move of God? Do we want to be prepared for the things the Lord has for each of us to do? Do we want to see and move in manifestations of His power and glory in these final hours of the church? Then we must live holy and without blame, in love.

Ephesians 1:4 AMP … Even as He chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love.

This is God’s plan for us, His church … holiness, set apart for Him, before Him in love.  It’s a plan that will get us in on this great end-time move of God, because as we are obedient to do God’s will, we will be able to stand in the midst of the fullness of His presence, power, and glory.

Here’s one choice that can help us as we live out this separation unto God. Choosing to NOT hang around other folks who live like the world, whether they call themselves Christians or not. I’m not saying we can’t minister to them. I’m say we shouldn’t be keeping company with them. Why?

Because their lives will affect our lives. If we hang around sin enough, we will become desensitized to sin.

1 Corinthians 5:11 AMP … But now I write to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of [Christian] brother if he is known to be guilty of immorality or greed, or is an idolater [whose soul is devoted to any object that usurps the place of God], or is a person with a foul tongue [railing, abusing, reviling, slandering], or is a drunkard or a swindler or a robber. No, you must not so much as eat with such a person.

1 Corinthians 15:33 TLT … So stop fooling yourselves! Evil companions will corrupt good morals and character.

Here’s another choice that can help keep us in a place of “separation unto God.”

Hebrews 12:14-15 NKJV …  Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled.

That’s a pretty serious scripture. “Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.” A study of the word SEE in this verse, shows us the verse can be interpreted like this … “without which no man shall be admitted into the immediate presence of God.” (Greek New Testament)

This verse isn’t talking about admittance into Heaven. It’s referring to entrance into the presence of God right now. In other words, if a person knowingly harbors bad attitudes, strife, discord, offense, or unforgiveness (things contrary to holiness and pursuing peace), those things can set up a roadblock in his life that prevents him from experiencing the power and presence of God right now.

And, never do we want to be in a position where God’s presence and power are hindered in our lives. Because that would in turn, hinder everything else that we should be receiving from God … our breakthroughs, our answers, His anointing, and so on.

We should be hungry for holiness - eager to separate ourselves from the things of the world. We should have a strong desire to obey Romans 12 that says …

Romans 12:1-2 NKJV … I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Let’s determine now to live our lives according to God’s plan … a blessed and powerful place to be!

Here’s a personalized prayer declaration you can make unto the Lord …

  • Father God, in the name of Jesus, I surrender everything I have … and everything I am… to You today.
  • I repent and ask forgiveness for any thoughts, words, or actions that don’t line up with Your Word and Your plan.
  • I determine in my heart to set my sights on things above - heavenly things, godly things, keeping my focus where it belongs, firmly on You Lord.
  • And by the power of Your Spirit, I determine to keep my flesh crucified, laying aside every sin and weight that would hinder me in my walk with You.
  • I set myself from this day on, to do Your will God.
  • I'm asking You, to speak to my spirit and tell me any changes I need to make in my life. And as I hear Your voice, I will quickly obey.
  • I’m expecting an outpouring of Your glory, like never before, in my church, in my life, and wherever I go! I’m expecting mighty miracles, signs, wonders, dreams, and visions like those prophesied in Acts.
  • I determine to be a person that will openly display the pure, undeniable, indisputable, authentic power of God.
  • I will settle for nothing less than Your prophesied word in Ephesians … “filled with the fullness of God, having the richest measure of Your divine presence.” (Ephesians 3:19)
  • I receive and I expect … in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen!
